Pocket Park
Working with Prudhoe Traders Committee to create a 'Pocket Park' on the vacant land next to Mcgees hardware shop Get In TouchPocket Park
The Partnership is working with Prudhoe Traders Committee to create a ‘Pocket Park’ on the vacant land next to Mcgees hardware shop which is currently used for car parking. The idea is to brighten up an unloved spot and improve the appearance of Front Street at a time when it faces more competition than ever.
The land is owned by the Coop which has agreed to lease it to us for five years on a peppercorn rent. The park will be constructed with big planters on the site which is much easier than digging into the ground and can be moved in future.
It is designed to be easy to maintain and avoid any dark spaces. The pictures below will be subject to future change. It will be a quiet spot to sit and relax and talk to friends. The planting will consist of 12 multi-stem Amelanchier lamarchii trees which have beautiful variegated colour. They will be 3m when planted and will reach 4m in ten years if unpruned.
Currently, we have applied for planning permission and are finalising arrangements with the Coop and will then have to raise the funds needed to put everything in place but hope to have it all finished and open by the Spring.
